Szczecin Philharmonic Big Band

It was established in the autumn of 2017 on the initiative of Igor Pushkar, a Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra trombonist. It is created, among others, by musicians of the Orchestra, teachers, lecturers and students of music schools and colleges. The musicians use a varied and colourful repertoire, encompassing film, jazz, and swing music-moreover, they create an opportunity to make music together and invite the audience to have fun.

The Szczecin Philharmonic Big Band is an ensemble that combines pleasure with art and prepares unique repertoires, using the musicians' unlimited performance and interpretation possibilities. At Big Band concerts, you can hear the most famous hits of light music and the most recognisable melodies from the canon of world classics: Gray, Ellington, Sandoval and Mancini standards, a program with film music or a program in the Christmas mood with songs, among others Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole. The ensemble invites great Szczecin vocalists to cooperate with them i.a. Jola Szczepaniak, Michał Grobelny, Sylwia Różycka.

The Big Band collaborates with Jakub Kraszewski, a pianist, conductor and composer. Thanks to his arrangements, traditional pieces gain the lightness characteristic of performances by entertainment orchestras.

In 2020, the Philharmonic released the first album of the Big Band – "Szczecin Philharmonic Big Band Światecznie" (Szczecin Philharmonic Big Band for Christmas).
