Musicians of the Philharmonic Mieczysław Karłowicz in Szczecin, the cellist Tomasz Szczęsny and the pianist Sławomir Wilk recorded an unusual repertoire – works for the cello and the piano by Karol Szymanowski.
Why unusual? Because Karol Szymanowski in his whole life did not write a single piece for the cello with the piano accompaniment.
Hence, all the works recorded on the album are the transcriptions or arrangements of works by the greatest Polish composer of the first half of the 20th century. Some are made by Tomasz Szczęsny, some by the great cellist Kazimierz Wiłkomirski, and some by professor Andrzej Orkisz.
The CD includes almost all of Karol Szymanowski's works that were edited on the cello and the piano.
The publisher of the album, which was published on the 80th anniversary of the death of Karol Szymanowski, is the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin.
The album is available in the Philharmonic's online store
